Reservation rock climbing courses

Make the transition to outdoor rock climbing!

This course is designed to help indoor climbers become autonomous in top-rope and/or lead outdoor climbing. Topics covered include : introduction and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), basic climbing knots, how to tie a personal tether, safe approach techniques to the top of the wall and rappel descent, anchor building and belayer release (self-rescue techniques). When choosing the lead climbing transition, additional material includes lead route reading, considerations for quickdraw clipping, cleaning a lead route, and techniques for retreating from a route.

Prerequisites:

Minimum age: 16 years old.

Top-rope option:

hold a top-rope certification from a climbing gym in Quebec
have completed around ten top-rope belay sessions since certification (belaying is fully mastered)
be able to tie a perfect figure-eight knot on demand

Lead climbing option:

hold a lead climbing certification from a climbing gym in Quebec
have completed around twenty lead belay sessions since certification (belaying is fully mastered)
comfortably climb 5.10 indoors
be able to tie a perfect figure-eight knot on demand

Cost:

Top-rope option: $229.00 + tax

Lead climbing option: $259.00 + tax

Day 2: 8 am – 12 pm

Lead climbing option:

Day 1: 8 am – 5 pm
Day 2: 8 am – 5 pm

Climbing site:

This activity takes place at the Beauséjour Park climbing site (Day 1) and the Chute Neigette site (Day 2).

Instructor ratio:

1 guide for up to 6 people in the top-rope course

1 guide for up to 4 people in the lead climbing course

Note: Due to different instructor ratios depending on the discipline, a maximum of 4 lead climbing participants can be accepted in a group of up to 6 total participants. Riki Bloc reserves the right to cancel the activity if fewer than 3 people are registered.

We require full payment at the time of booking. For any cancellation made at least 7 days before the event, you will receive a full refund. After that deadline, no refund will be issued. Riki Bloc climbing cooperative reserves the right to cancel the activity if weather conditions or high traffic at the climbing site are likely to compromise safety, or if there are not enough participants registered. In such cases, you will be offered the choice of a reschedule or a refund.

Due to the potentially hazardous nature of the activity, good physical condition and mental health are required and must not pose a risk to the participant, the guide, or others. Assessment of mental health is left to the discretion of the guide managing the activity.
